Dr. Catherine Daniélou, current President of the American Association of Teachers of French, will present a lecture for the Alliance Française at the Mobile Museum of Art on Thursday, May 17 at 6:00: Paris in Movement: New Museums, New Energy. The presentation will be in French and English and will be followed by a light reception with a donation bar.

Dr. Daniélou will talk about the following museums: Musée du Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Centre Georges Pompidou, Musée Cluny. We often think of the Parisian museum scene as static and immutable spaces. This presentation will discuss how new museums in Paris challenge this concept through interactive and multi-disciplinary approaches to culture.

Dr. Daniélou is Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of French at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she has taught for over 25 years. In addition to her impressive record as a researcher, she has been an inspiring teacher and a dedicated administrator. In 2013, she was named “Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques,” in recognition of her contribution to the expansion of French education and culture.
